Poetry By Ken in Rainbow Colors

For the first time in his life
He went with his loving wife,
She entered as always before
But he came in the backdoor.

Throughout their wedded years,
Sometimes with hopeful tears
She begged him in every way
To go to church next Sunday.

She was always at worship alone
While her husband sat at home,
With every prayer she prayed,
Pleas for his salvation were made.

Everyone always sent their best
To him at home in leisurely rest
And an invitation was sent to him
To come Sundays and join them.

She knew he would go someday
And waited as time sifted away
Hoping that it would not be to late
To save his soul's eternal fate.

She longed to be with him forever
When in Heaven joined together,
Dreaming of being hand in hand,
Strolling the gardens of glory-land.

He finally went to church yesterday,
Everyone knew he would someday,
He attended with his grieving wife
For the first time in his life.

His fine casket was on grand display
Among a beautiful wreath display
And mourners passed one at a time
With heavy heart and worried mind.

Crying she laid her Bible on his chest
And yielded to God his eternal rest,
Next Sunday she'd go to church alone
And all her days she would be alone.
