Poetry By Ken in Rainbow Colors

Evening shadows sway
With a haunting display
Fading the lonely day,
So many end this way.

The sun sets to the west
Over far mountains crest,
Darkness slowly settles in
As the dreaded night begins.

She's always lived alone
Always on her own,
No man's shared her life,
Never will she be a wife.

Where had the years gone?
Where has time flown?
Sweet youth has fled away
Leaving her aged and gray.

Standing in evening's breeze
At the weeping willow trees
Softly crying to no one there,
Her heart fills with despair.

Wrinkled hands brush tears
As she thinks over the years,
She'd never known love before,
Now time has closed that door.

As turtledoves return to nest
She sits on the porch to rest,
Evening breezes gently stir
And loneliness fills her.

Night birds cry from the meadow,
She stares at her faint shadow,
One more lonely day ends
And the lonely night begins.
