Good times filled our lives in the past
But happiness wasn't meant to last,
You stopped loving me long ago,
You don't want me but won't let go.

You'll use me if there's nothing to do
And like a fool I come running to you,
The only happiness I have is the nights
You kiss me and turn out the lights.

For a little while life is a bed of roses
Then once more your door closes,
You push me away after you tire of play
And I'm alone until you call someday.

I think sometimes I'll just leave you for good
And I should but my heart isn't made of wood,
I love you and can't tell my heart what to do,
I can't stop loving you just because I want to.

At times I'm out of my mind with heartache
Sometimes I feel I can't bear the heartbreak
But then you give those pretty fingers a snap
And again I'm a prisoner in your tender trap.

I just can't say no so I come crawling back
Each time you open hopes door a crack
But it closes before I realize what could be,
Will you ever get tired of hurting me?

Why can't you just leave me alone forever
When you have no desire to stay together,
You don't love me sweetheart so let me go,
I'll cry like a lost child but this you know.
