~~Autumn Departure~~

Once more darling I leave you
When morning brings the dew,
We'll part at the end of the lane
With a kiss until I'm home again.

When songbirds awake us dear
I must go and leave you here
As I have autumns in the past
But I promise this will be the last.

With the dawning I must leave
I'll return when ice is on the trees,
When snowfall beds on forest floor
I'll return to roam no more.

Think of me through autumn's bloom,
Dream sweetly of me in our bedroom,
Nightly I'll dream of your charms
Till at last I'm back in your arms.

As our reunion draws ever so nigh
Keep a welcome lamp burning high,
Light the window to glow each night
Should I return to you by moonlight.

I'm so sorry to leave you alone
But I know it won't be long.
My promise to leave no more is true
This is the last time I ever leave you.
