Waiting Game

Snowfall lies deep in the glen
Winter's settled in again,
Long cold nights are dreary,
Of dampness we weary.

We're chilled to our core,
Winter's such a bore,
For months it drags on
Until our attitude is blown.

Our mental state is a wreck,
Ambitions are held in check,
We face months of isolation
Due to winter's devastation.

We'd like to go on vacation
For needed recreation
But winter's ice show creation
Creates an impossible situation.

We're prisoners in our home,
Our release date is unknown
And winter drags on and on
Tiring us to our achy bones.

Old memories fail to recall
What sunshine is like at all,
It seems such a long time ago
We were warmed by sun's glow.

So here we are and here we'll be
Adrift on a snowfield sea,
Chilled by icy winds that blow,
Till old man winter decides to go.
