In my garden of flowers
I while away easy hours,
Sweet fragrance surrounds,
Contentment is found.
With anticipation I rest
Near the robin's nest,
Where I will be blessed
By a lovely beauty fest.
With warm morning sun
They arrive one by one
Sipping flowers that grow
While I enjoy the show.
Darting and dipping around
With a soft humming sound,
Colors glinting in sunlight,
Such a delightful sight.
Fluttering to and fro they go
Dining on blooms that grow,
Sipping sweet nectar within
Before winging off again.
Their elegant beauty astounds
As they rapidly make rounds,
Hovering over flowers bright,
A feat of enchanting flight.
I derive an emotional high
As tiny beauties zoom by,
Beauties pleasing to behold,
Feathered in colors so bold.
The hummingbirds will fly away
To shelter from the torrid day,
But will return in dusky twilight,
Charming my heart with delight.
