Poetry By Ken in Rainbow Colors

They've fallen one by one
As leaves in autumn sun,
At journeys end from birth
They became one with earth.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
They've passed as I must,
As autumn's last leaf I cling,
Yet my failing spirit will wing.

Pictures came to mind
Flicking as though timed,
Photographs of the past
Through memory flashed.

Adoring faces appeared
Of family so endeared,
Smiling in a knowing way,
They had nothing to say.

They beckon with a wave
From beyond their grave,
Ghostly they summon me
From the decaying tree.

I am the last of the leaves
Twisting in life's breeze,
No new buds will appear
To bloom through the years.

The tree will wither away
When I'm turned to clay,
The family tree will die
When I've said goodbye.

When autumn wind gusts again
The last leaf will softly descend,
I will become the earth below,
A tree needs new life to grow.
