Dine And Dance by Kenneth J Ellison

Pickup trucks at the hitch 'in rail
Wrangler jeans and ponytails,
Cowboy hats and shined up boots
Short plaid skirts on ladies cute.

Children running here and there
Babies carried with tender care,
The work-week is at last done,
It's time some fun was begun.

Folks gather for a potluck dinner,
Desserts are a blue ribbon winner,
They'll clear the floor after the meal
Making room to dance a lively reel.

Saturday night at the grange hall
Ain't no fancy downtown ball
But a good time will be had by all
When a square-dance is the call.

Fiddlers play 'in loud and clear
Welcome farming families here,
With a squeeze box and bass guitar
They bring 'em from near and far.

They come to meet and greet
And shuffle their aching feet
With neighbors from all around
This dusty little farming town.

The happy night draws to a close
And tired families ready to go,
As the fiddler plays a waltz tune
They go home under harvest moon.
