Signs of age show on me
I'm not who I used to be,
Sweet youth has fled away,
Leaving wrinkles and gray.
Long life has taken it's toll
Leaving me stooped and old,
No longer am I nimble or spry
And time has clouded my eyes.
Just because I've slowed down
Don't look at me and frown,
Don't judge me by passed time
Or because you're in your prime.
You could learn a lot from me,
About who or what not to be,
Life would be easier for you,
Your heartaches would be few.
Of love and life you can learn
And what makes this world turn,
Just listen for your own sake
And avoid life's little mistakes.
Though you are young and bolder
You can learn from someone older,
It's because I'm old and gray
You should listen to what I say.
My sands of time have shifted
But with knowledge I'm gifted,
When I speak you should pause,
Listen and learn--Just because.
