From my memory well
Where I sometime dwell
Wishful dreams I recall,
That never came true at all.

Everything I've wanted
I pursued undaunted
But always out of reach
Were my desires each.

I wanted money aplenty
But I barely have any,
Dreams of riches soared
But nothing can I afford.

I wanted stardom's fame,
To play the highlife game
But famous I'll never be,
Fortune and fame elude me.

I craved to be a powerful man
With loyal servants at hand,
Too command as a ruling king
Everyone and everything.

My noble castle on a hill
Is only a daydream still
Where I'd live out my life
With a beautiful young wife.

Out of reach are my dreams
Just at my fingertips it seems,
I imagine them coming true
But that's not what they'll do.

Living alone, ageing and poor
I don't dream much anymore,
The good life's left me behind
But not in my dreamer's mind.
